Paul Gilbert – Guitar Legend Is Touring

July 8, 2008 by ollyno1uk

Any person who is into their electric guitar will have heard people talk of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Paul Gilbert rarely gets a mention but this guy is fantastic at the guitar.

I was fortuante enough to see Paul at a guitar clinic where he talked about his guitar playing and his path in life to where he is today. He has some very interesting stories!

Paul is famous for being in the band Mr Big as well as Racer X. He is huge over in Japan and most of his touring has been over that side of the world – hence he is not so well known here.

Fortunately he is now breaking into touring here in the UK. Recently supporting Satriani, he performed amazingly, illustrating what a fantastic guitar playing ability he has.  Now he has announced a string of shows across the UK. Tickets are amazingly cheap and the venues are not massive so you really will get an up and close view of tremendous guitar playing.

One of my favorite songs so far is “Technical Difficulties”. Paul introduced this song at the guitar clinic as a song that was technically difficult to play – hence the name. He did not play this when supporting Satch though! Another is a great cover of “Fly me to the Moon”. Performed so well.

Check him out on youtube and you will not be disappointed.

Welcome to the Guitar blog

Hi and welcome to my blog.

For many years now I have had a passion for the guitar and music. At times I have dedicated most of my time to learning and developing my skills with the guitar.

As any musician will know, learning the guitar or indeed any musical instruments demands much time, Patience and dedication. There will be many times along the way that you will want to give up. Only the string will make it.

That said, in the modern world, trying to find time to practice and develop becomes increasingly harder with age!

This blog is here to talk about the guitar, talk about guitar equipment and also music in general – music theory, song compositions etc.

Please feel free to leave any comment.
